Over time copper/brass will tarnish and may even turn some people's skin slightly green. This is to do with the PH levels in sweat and oxidation of the copper. To slow this process down, try not to wear jewellery to bed and avoid getting it wet. You can also use a soft cloth to gently buff out any blemishes and marks.
Renaissance Wax has been used as a sealant to help slow down oxidation, however over time this will wear slightly.
